Description

FineVu is the high performance Dash Cam arm of multinational parent company, Finedigital Inc., who are based in South Korea. Finedigital Inc. was established in 1992 and since then, have been manufacturing their own electronic devices, in-house. Since 1992, Finedigital started producing telecommunication equipment and solutions before they expanded their capabilities into automotive electronic systems. Over the years, we have come to appreciate and acknowledge that the South Korean made Dash Cams are some of the best globally.

We always seek Dash Cam manufacturers, like FineVU, who produce their own products in-house as they have 100% control over production, testing and quality. Different to many other Dash Cam brands, FineVu Dash Cams are not made in generic, 3rd party factories and have their logo stamped on generic products. FineVu Dash Cams are developed and produced by FineVu in-house.

FineVu pride themselves on producing ultra reliable Dash Cams and investing heavily in R&D and quality control. FineVu’s trademark is producing cost effective, ultra high quality Dash Cams with intuitive features and ease of use.

The FineVu GX1600-2CH Dash Cam is FineVu’s new 4K ULTRA HD + 2K QUAD HD offering to the Australian Dash Cam market.

The FineVu GX1600-2CH is the first FineVu to pair a true 4K front camera on the large 1/1.8″ Sony STARVIS 2 sensor with a 2K Quad HD rear camera, so number plates stay readable at both ends of the car. It is the same sensor class used by the most expensive 4K dash cams sold in Australia, at a fraction of the price.

The GX1600-2CH adds dual HDR, an eight alert ADAS MAX driver assistance suite (including rear blind spot detection), built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and the same intelligent park mode, heat and battery protections FineVu is known for.

It is backed with a Market Leading 3 Year FineVu AU Dash Cam Warranty (standard 12 month warranty on accessories and micro SD cards).

The notable features of the FineVu GX1600-2CH Dash Cam are:

  1. 4K Ultra HD resolution + 8MP Sony STARVIS 2 sensor in the front camera – The front camera records 3840 x 2160 at 30fps from an 8MP Sony STARVIS 2 sensor in the large 1/1.8″ format. Sensor size is what separates premium 4K from budget 4K: larger photosites gather more light, so number plates and faces stay readable at dusk and under street lighting, not just in daylight. A 2K QHD front mode is selectable if you prefer longer recording time per card.
  2. 2K Quad HD 5MP rear camera – Most rear-end and merging incidents are decided by rear footage. The GX1600 rear camera records 2560 x 1440 from a 5MP sensor, almost twice the pixels of a Full HD rear, with a 135° field of view.
  3. Dual HDR – High dynamic range on both cameras balances bright headlights and low sun against dark backgrounds so detail is neither blown out nor lost in shadow.
  4. Market Leading 3 Year Camera Warranty – provides confidence in the build quality and heat reliability of the GX1600 Dash Cam.
  5. ADAS MAX with eight real-time alerts – five front alerts (Forward Collision Warning, urban low speed Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Front Vehicle Motion Alert and Pedestrian Collision Warning) and three rear alerts (Rear Collision Warning, left Blind Spot Detection and right Blind Spot Detection). Rear blind spot detection from a dash cam is unusual at this price. ADAS alerts require GPS reception.
  6. Built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth – no external GPS receiver and no Wi-Fi dongle. GPS tags every video with speed and location for the FineVu Player map view and powers the ADAS and safety camera alerts. Bluetooth makes the first smartphone pairing quick; Wi-Fi handles live view, downloads, settings and firmware updates through the free FineVu CLOUD & Wi-Fi App (iOS and Android*).
  7. Auto Night Vision – the smart Ai of the FineVU GX1600 constantly assesses the environment and automatically optimises the video quality settings in darker conditions.
  8. Supercapacitors – are used rather than lithium ion batteries to excel in heat resistance and heat durability, especially when recording while parked in a hot car. Rated for operation from -10°C to 60°C.
  9. Super Intelligent Parking Mode – the FineVU GX1600 Dash Cam records while parked using motion detection, impact detection and Smart Time Lapse. Smart Time Lapse records at 2fps to stretch card capacity, then switches to full 30fps recording the moment an impact is detected. *Parking mode operation requires installation of the FineVu included hardwire cable into the fusebox or external Battery Pack like the Cellink Neo8
  10. Ai Park Mode Heat Monitoring – if the GX1600 detects the internal car temperature is too high while parked, it powers itself down safely to protect the camera and the memory card, and stays off until the ignition is next turned on.
  11. Low Voltage Cut-Off – the camera shuts down before your car battery drops below a preset voltage, selectable in the app to suit your vehicle. FineVu recommends the hybrid setting for cars with idle stop-start (ISG) systems.
  12. Format Free 2.0 – you never need to reformat the micro SD card manually. Format Free technology extends card life and removes one of the most common causes of “dash cam stopped recording” faults.
  13. Safety Camera Alerts – voice alerts for fixed safety camera locations, with database updates released quarterly by FineVu.
  14. Customisable On Screen Display – set up to 20 characters of your own text (a rego, a fleet ID, a name) to appear on the recorded footage.
  15. Non-LCD, low profile design – no screen means a smaller front unit that sits behind the mirror without blocking the driver’s view. All control is through the app.
  16. Free FineVu PC Viewer – free PC viewer for Windows and MAC users. The FineVu Player 2.0 is companion software that allows you to watch video files on your PC via the sd card and simultaneously view the vehicle location on a google map overlay.

The FineVu GX1600-2CH Dash Cam offers hard to beat 4K + 2K performance plus all the intelligent features to reliably record while driving and parked.

The FineVu GX1600-2CH is not an average run off the mill 4K Dash Cam. FineVU has put a large 1/1.8″ Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, a 2K rear camera and eight ADAS alerts into a camera that costs hundreds less than comparable 4K + 2K systems, and backed it with a 3 year warranty.

Is the FineVu GX1600-2CH right for you?

The GX1600-2CH is FineVu’s flagship two-channel camera and the one to choose when front-camera detail is the priority: it records true 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) through a large 1/1.8″ Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, with a 2K Quad HD rear camera, and both channels run HDR and automatic night vision. Everything is built in, so there is no GPS puck or Wi-Fi dongle on the windscreen.

It suits drivers who want the clearest possible number plates at night and in low sun, anyone doing long highway kilometres where ADAS MAX’s eight alerts earn their keep, and owners who prefer a discreet, screen-free unit that sits out of the eyeline. It is also the FineVu we recommend for company vehicles and fleets that need reliable parking-mode evidence without a battery drain.

If you would rather have a screen to review footage on the spot, the FineVu GX9000-2CH gives you a 3.5″ touchscreen with picture-in-picture for $200 less. If 4K front is all you need and the rear can be Full HD, the FineVu GX4K 2CH is the value pick. If the budget is under $500, the FineVu GX35 2CH covers the essentials.

True 4K Ultra HD Front, 2K Quad HD Rear

The front camera records 3840 x 2160 4K Ultra HD and the rear records 2560 x 1440 2K Quad HD, so number plates and road detail stay sharp at both ends of the car. It is a real step up from the Full HD rear cameras fitted to most dash cams.

FineVu GX1600-2CH Large 1/1.8" Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor

Large 1/1.8″ Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor

Sensor size is what separates premium 4K from budget 4K. The GX1600 uses an 8MP sensor in the large 1/1.8-inch STARVIS 2 class, gathering more light so faces and number plates stay readable at dusk and under street lighting, not just in daylight.

FineVu GX1600-2CH ADAS MAX: Eight Real-Time Driver Alerts

FineVu GX1600-2CH Dash Cam Installation Options:

  1. Cigarette Lighter Adapter (included): Easiest method, no technical expertise required. Just plug the cigarette lighter adapter into your vehicle Cigarette lighter socket. Only powers dash cam while car is on, no parking mode features.
  2. FineVu OBD-II Power Cable (optional extra): Simple, DIY, Plug and Play into your vehicle’s OBDii port for constant power to allow for parking mode. Easier than hardwiring. No need for costly professional installation. Not compatible with all vehicles such as Teslas and some EV’s.
  3. Hardwiring kit (included): Most permanent solution, offers parking mode features. Most difficult option, requires familiarity with car electrical systems. Expect to pay between $200-$400 for professional installation.
  4. Battery Pack ( optional extra): Simple, DIY, Plug and Play. Good option for those who don’t want to hardwire or have a smaller car battery. The battery charges when the car is on via the cigarette lighter charger and then gives power to the dash cam when the vehicle is off.  Can also be used to charge other devices. External battery can be hidden under passenger seat.

After you have successfully connected the right power cable, the only thing left to do is mount the dash cam to the windscreen and hide the cables through your vehicles trim and seal strips. You can use the supplied cable clips to help.

Notes:
1.Recommended Micro SD Card = Genuine SAMSUNG EVO PLUS or SAMSUNG PRO ENDURANCE Micro SD card in 64GB & 128GB sizes. 256GB must be a FineVU 256GB card (click here for Micro SD card information)
2.DO NOT use any SANDISK branded Micro SD card in a FineVu Dash Cam, it will cause functional and physical problems and will void the manufacturer’s warranty
3.The FineVu GX1600-2CH comes with a 3 year warranty on the cameras and a 12 month warranty on all accessories.
4. If using an external battery pack for parking mode power, the FineVu GX1600-2CH Dash Cam cannot be connected to an external battery pack (via the cigarette lighter cable) for parking mode recording. Only the FineVu hardwire cable can be used to operate parking mode. If connected to an external battery pack with the cig lighter cord, the camera cannot switch into parking mode. The included hardwire cable must always be used to activate parking mode.

FineVu GX1600-2CH FAQs

Do I need to hardwire the GX1600 for parking mode?

Yes. Parking mode needs constant power, so the camera runs from the included hardwire cable connected to the fuse box, or from an external battery such as the Cellink NEO8+S if you prefer zero draw on the car battery. On the cigarette-lighter cord it records while driving only. The built-in low-voltage cut-off stops recording before the car battery gets too low to start.

Can I install it myself?

The cigarette-lighter setup is a ten-minute job. Hardwiring is straightforward on most cars with the included cable and an add-a-fuse kit, and FineVu’s install guide covers the fuse-box steps. If you are in Melbourne metro we can install it for you; call (03) 9350 2605 to book.

How is the GX1600 different from the GX4K?

Both record 4K at the front. The GX1600 adds a larger 1/1.8″ STARVIS 2 sensor, a 2K rear camera instead of Full HD, HDR on both channels, ADAS MAX with rear blind-spot alerts, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with no dongle. If you mainly want 4K forward footage, the GX4K does that for less.

What memory card should I use?

A 64GB FineVu card is included. The camera accepts up to 256GB; a 128GB or 256GB high-endurance card gives you more parking-mode history before the oldest files are overwritten. You can add one from the upgrade selector above.

Will it work in Australian summer heat?

The GX1600 uses a supercapacitor rather than a lithium battery, which is what you want behind a windscreen in an Australian summer, and AI Park Mode Heat Monitoring shuts parking recording down if the cabin gets too hot, then resumes once it cools.

What does the 3-year warranty cover?

Three years on the camera against manufacturing faults, handled here in Australia by Dash Cams Australia, with accessories covered for 12 months. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in addition to the warranty.
