Description

Australian light is hard on dash cam footage. A low sun ahead, or a light-coloured dash reflecting off a raked windscreen, washes detail out of the exact frames you need after an incident. A circular polarising (CPL) filter is the fix — it screens out light reflected off the glass so the camera records the road, not your dashboard.

The CPL-2 is BlackVue’s ultra-slim polarising filter for the Elite Series front camera. Fitted over the front lens, it cuts windscreen reflections and harsh glare, lifting contrast and colour in bright daytime driving — the conditions most Australian footage is recorded in.

One honest caveat: a polariser reduces the light reaching the sensor, so BlackVue doesn’t recommend it for night or low-light driving. If most of your driving is after dark, skip it. If you’ve ever reviewed a daytime clip full of dash reflection, this is a $49 problem-solver.

• Regular driving into low sun
• Washed-out daytime footage despite a clean windscreen
