FineVu has introduced this game changing plug and play parking mode power cord.
If hardwiring to your fusebox for park mode is not desirable, the FineVu OBD-II power cord is an alternative plug and play way to install and power your FineVu Dash Cam.
The FineVu OBD-II cable simply plugs into your vehicles OBD-II port (on-board diagnostics port) for power.
This offers an alternative to hardwiring your FineVu Dash Cam to the fusebox for parking mode power or plugging it into your cig lighter socket.
The FineVu OBD-II power cord will power your Dash Cam while driving and while parked.
While recording motion or impacts while parked, the FineVu Dash Cams + FineVu ODB-II cable will monitor your vehicles battery voltage, and will shut down once the set cut off voltage has been reached. The cutoff voltage in set via the FineVu Dash Cam settings.
If you want to use your FineVu Dash Cam in multiple vehicles with parking mode, transferring between vehicles is now even easier since you don’t have to re-wire into the fusebox each time you change vehicles.
So how does the FineVu OBD-II cord know when to switch in and out of parking mode?
Once the vehicle is switched off, the FineVu OBD-II cable waits for your vehicle to go to sleep. Once the vehicle is asleep, the FineVu OBD-II cord will tell your FineVu Dash Cam to switch over to parking mode recording.
Vehicles can still stay awake for a short period of time after the engine turns off. Things like power windows and radio can actually remain active for a short period of time after the engine turns off.
Please note each car is different so the parking mode activation time will vary. Some of our work vehicles switch to park mode after 5 minutes, some after 10 minutes.
While the OBD-II cable is waiting for the car to go to sleep, your FineVu Dash Cam will still be continuously recording so you will never be unprotected while parked.
The OBD-II parking mode operation is different to traditional hardwiring to the fusebox. When hardwiring to the fusebox, park mode is triggered instantaneously when the hardwire cable loses or gains power as the engine turns on and off. This is how the camera knows when to switch in and out of park mode. With traditional hardwiring, an auto electrician will piggy back the hardwires off very specific circuits in the fusebox. Traditional hardwiring allows park mode to activate immediately after the engine switches off.
The FineVu OBD-II cable activates park mode differently.
If instantaneous parking mode activation is more desirable, you can still use the included hardwire cable in your FineVu Dash Cam box.
This exclusive FineVu OBD-II cable is compatible with our FineVu GX33 / GX5000 / GX7000 / GX30 / GX300/ GX400 / GX1000 / GX4K Dash Cams.
3m cord length.
Most vehicles manufactured after 1996 will have an OBD-II port. This port is designed to pull vehicle information enabling mechanics to diagnose faults. FineVu has unlocked the potential of this port to be able to power your Dash Cam without hardwiring to the fusebox or using your cig lighter socket. Simple, clean, easy DIY installation.
OBD-II ports are normally located within 60cm of your steering wheel. They are generally located under the steering wheel in the footwell area.
** Please locate your OBD-II port prior to purchasing this product. If the vehicle OBD-II port is located behind a panel, please ensure there is enough gap for the OBD-II connector to fit and for the panel to fit back flush. Some OBD-II ports are exposed and not located behind a panel, while some ports are located behind a panel. Product dimensions are listed below on the spec sheet. The OBD-II connector will stick out around 25.5mm **
Notes:
1. The FineVu OBD-II power cord is only designed to work in 12V car systems. It is not compatible in 24V systems (for example in 24V truck systems)
